Affiliate Disclosure
How this site earns revenue, and what that means for our editorial content.
Some links on this website earn us a commission if you click through and sign up for a service. This comes at no extra cost to you. We are transparent about which links are affiliate links, and our editorial assessments are made independently of these commercial relationships.
What affiliate links are
An affiliate link is a tracked URL that tells a company (in our case, a dating platform) that a visitor came from our website. If you click one of these links and subsequently create an account or purchase a subscription, we receive a commission from that company. This commission is paid by the company from their existing marketing budget — it does not add any cost to you.
Which links on this site are affiliate links
Any link on this website that directs you to a dating platform — including SeniorMatch, SilverSingles, OurTime, and eHarmony — may be an affiliate link. Where affiliate links are present, we disclose this clearly:
- Platform review pages include a disclosure statement at the top of the page.
- Individual affiliate links are accompanied by a note such as "Affiliate link — we earn a commission at no cost to you."
- The footer of every page on this site contains a brief affiliate disclosure.
Links to non-commercial resources — government websites, FTC reporting tools, the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center, the AARP Fraud Helpline, and similar — are not affiliate links and earn us nothing.
How affiliate relationships affect our editorial content
They do not. This is our editorial policy:
- Platform assessments are made independently. A platform can receive a low score in our review even if we earn a commission from it. A platform can receive a high score even if we earn nothing from it. Our scoring criteria are published and consistent across all platforms we review.
- We include negative information. Our reviews include real user complaints, limitations, and known issues — including complaints about platforms from which we earn commissions. We believe a review that only presents positive information is not a useful review.
- We do not accept payment for editorial placement. Platforms cannot pay us to appear in our comparison tables, improve their scores, or be featured as a recommendation.
- We do not publish sponsored content. All articles, guides, and reviews on this site are written by our editorial team without input from the companies featured.
FTC compliance
This disclosure is made in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255), which require that material connections between a publisher and any companies they endorse — including affiliate commissions — be clearly disclosed to readers.
